John C. Belknap passed the bar at Georgetown. He was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 21st United States Secretary of War from 1889 to 1891. Belknap resigned after being accused of accepting bribes from an Indian trader. He was the only cabinet member in United States history to be impeached and tried in the Senate, but was acquitted.
