Yevgeny Leonov was a Russian cosmonaut and actor. He was the second person to walk in space, and the first to perform extravehicular activity in space. Leonov was born in 1924 in a village near Moscow. He joined the Soviet Air Force in 1943 and flew combat missions during World War II. After the war, Leonov became a test pilot. He was selected for the Soviet space program in 1960.
