Yonatan Netanyahu died in a military operation. He was the commander of Sayeret Matkal, an elite Israeli special forces unit. On July 4, 1976, he led a raid to rescue Israeli hostages who had been taken hostage by Palestinian terrorists at Entebbe Airport in Uganda. During the raid, Netanyahu was killed by gunfire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Courage, Israel's highest military honor.
