Yūichi Komano retired from professional football in 2013, after playing for more than a decade. He started his career with Yokohama Flügels in 1999 and then moved to Urawa Reds in 2003. He won the J.League Best Eleven award in 2006 and the AFC Champions League in 2007. He also represented Japan at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
