Answer
Yusra Mardini competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 100-meter backstroke. She was one of the first Syrian refugees to compete in the Olympics. Mardini was born in Syria in 1998 and fled the country with her sister in 2015. They crossed the Mediterranean Sea in a boat with 18 other people. The boat capsized and Mardini helped to save the lives of her fellow passengers.
