Zane Grey was a dentist before he became an author. He graduated from the Ohio College of Dental Surgery in 1899 and practiced dentistry in New York City for three years. In 1902, he moved to Arizona and began writing full-time. He wrote more than 50 novels, many of which were set in the American West.
