Known as Charles the Liberal, Charles XV was the King of Sweden and Norway from 1859 until his death in 1872. He ascended the throne after his father, Oscar I, passed away. During his reign, Charles XV actively supported liberal reforms, including the introduction of a new constitution in 1866 which established a bicameral parliament and increased democratic representation.
