Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya served as the Diwan of the princely state of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. During his tenure, he oversaw the construction of several large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam and the Mysore Palace. He also established the Mysore State Engineering College, which later became the Indian Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
