Abdulla Yameen was born in 1959. He is a Maldivian politician who served as the President of the Maldives from 2013 to 2018. He is the son of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Yameen was elected to the presidency in 2013, defeating former President Mohamed Nasheed. He was re-elected in 2018, but was defeated by Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the 2018 presidential election.
