Adolf Galland was born on 19 March 1912 in Westerholt, Westphalia. He was a German fighter ace and Luftwaffe general during World War II. He was one of the most successful air aces of the war, credited with 352 aerial victories, and was the commander of the Luftwaffe's Fighter Forces during the latter part of the war.
