Ahmed Zewail held both Egyptian and American nationality. He was born in Egypt and moved to the United States to attend university. He became a citizen of the United States in 1974. He was a professor of chemistry at the California Institute of Technology. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999 for his work on femtochemistry. He died in 2016.
