Mimoun did not compete in the high jump. He was a middle-distance runner and competed in the 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m events. He won a silver medal in the 1500m at the 1952 Olympics and a bronze medal in the 5000m at the 1956 Olympics. He also won the Boston Marathon in 1957.
