Where did Saint Alban's martyrdom take place?

  • Verulamium

  • Rome

  • Athens

  • Jerusalem

Answer

Saint Alban's martyrdom took place in Verulamium, a Roman city in the modern English county of Hertfordshire. Alban was a Christian convert who, according to legend, sheltered a Roman soldier during a persecution of Christians. The soldier was so impressed by Alban's faith that he converted to Christianity, and both men were executed. Verulamium was later renamed St Albans in honour of the saint.
