Answer
Albert Fert was born in 1938. He is a French physicist who, along with Peter Grünberg, was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physics for their independent discovery of giant magnetoresistance (GMR), which is the large change in electrical resistance in certain materials in response to a magnetic field. This discovery has led to the development of new types of magnetic sensors and memory devices.
