Alexander Lanskoy died on July 6, 1784, at the age of 37. He was a Russian statesman and military leader, who served as Field Marshal and Governor-General of Moscow from 1779 until his death. Lanskoy was a close friend and ally of Catherine the Great, and he played an important role in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787-1792.
