Alexandra Kollontai died on 9 March 1952 in Moscow. She was a Russian revolutionary, politician, diplomat, feminist and early theorist of communism. Kollontai was born in St. Petersburg in 1872 and joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1891. She was one of the first women to be elected to the party's Central Committee and was a leading figure in the Bolshevik faction.
