Andranik was a prominent Armenian revolutionary and military leader. He was a founding member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and served as its chairman for a number of years. However, he eventually left the ARF due to its cooperation with the Young Turks. The Young Turks were a Turkish nationalist movement that was responsible for the Armenian genocide.
