Anne Sullivan was Helen Keller's teacher and companion for 49 years, from the age of 7 until Sullivan's death. The two women formed a close bond and Sullivan was instrumental in Keller's education and development. They traveled together extensively and Keller credited Sullivan with giving her the gift of sight.
