Anne Sullivan was born on April 14, 1866 in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts. She was born to poor Irish immigrants and was deaf and blind from a very young age. Despite her disabilities, she was a brilliant student and went on to become a teacher. She is best known for her work with Helen Keller, who she taught to communicate and read and write.
