Darren Aronofsky studied film and social anthropology at Harvard University. Aronofsky had initially planned to study medicine at Harvard, but switched to the visual and environmental studies program after he took a film class with professor James Monaco. While at Harvard, Aronofsky made several short films, including his first feature-length film, Pi (1998).
