Answer
In the Baháʼí Faith, the Báb's role most closely resembles that of John the Baptist. Both were prophets who prepared the way for a greater prophet to come. John the Baptist preached repentance and baptized people in preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ. The Báb called people to repentance and taught that he was the harbinger of the Promised One, who would bring a new revelation for the age.
