Answer
Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor, was a figurehead ruler during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against British rule. He was captured and exiled to Rangoon, where he died in 1862. His reign marked the end of the Mughal Empire, which had ruled over much of South Asia for over three centuries.
