Batu Khan lived approximately during the 13th century. He was a grandson of Genghis Khan and one of the most successful Mongol generals. Batu Khan led the Mongol invasion of Europe and conquered much of Eastern Europe. He also founded the Golden Horde, a Mongol khanate that ruled over much of Russia and Eastern Europe for centuries.
