Batu Khan was a Mongol leader who ruled over the Golden Horde, a vast empire that stretched from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea. Batu Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan, and he was responsible for conquering much of Eastern Europe, including the Kievan Rus.
