Answer
Béla IV adopted the title of King of Cumania in 1233. This was done in order to gain the support of the Cumans, who were a nomadic people that had settled in Hungary in the 11th century. The Cumans were a valuable military asset to Hungary, and Béla IV hoped that by adopting their title, he would be able to strengthen their alliance.
