Paul-Henri Spaak entered politics in 1932 for the Belgian Workers' Party, a socialist party. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the party's leader in 1939. During World War II, he was a member of the Belgian government in exile in London. After the war, he served as Prime Minister of Belgium from 1947 to 1949 and again from 1950 to 1954.
