The Bhandarkhal Massacre was a purge of the Shah nobility that occurred in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 1806, at the instigation of Prime Minister Bhimsen Thapa. It resulted in the deaths of more than 40 members of the Shah family and their supporters, including the former prime minister, Bahadur Shah. Thapa was able to seize power and consolidate his position as the leading figure in Nepali politics.
