William Boyd Watterson II, known professionally as Bill Watterson, is an American cartoonist best known for creating the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes." Watterson was born in Washington, D.C., and attended Kenyon College in Ohio, where he studied political science. After graduating, he worked as a political cartoonist for the Cincinnati Post before creating "Calvin and Hobbes" in 1985.
