Opha May Johnson was the first female recruiter to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). She was hired in 1919, and worked in the bureau until 1954. Johnson's recruitment efforts helped to increase the number of women working for the FBI from just 10 in 1919 to over 1,000 by the time she retired. Johnson also played a role in the recruitment of African-American women for the FBI.
