Jackie Gaughan was a Vegas gaming pioneer who was instrumental in the development of the city's gaming industry. He owned and operated a number of casinos, including the Golden Nugget and the El Cortez, and was a major force in the legalization of gambling in Nevada. Gaughan was also a philanthropist and a supporter of the arts. He died in 2013 at the age of 89.
