When was the CFL officially named?

  • 1958

  • 1968

  • 1978

  • 1988

Answer

The Canadian Football League (CFL) was officially named in 1958, but the league was actually founded in 1957 as the Western Interprovincial Football Union (WIFU). In 1958, the WIFU merged with the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to form the CFL. The CFL is now a professional football league with nine teams, all located in Canada.
