Catherine Ashton was born in 1956. She is a British politician who served as the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy from 2009 to 2014. Ashton was the first person to hold this position, which was created by the Lisbon Treaty. She was also the first woman to serve as the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary.
