Chaim Weizmann served as the first President of Israel from 1949 to 1952, and the only one to serve a full four-year term. Weizmann was a Zionist leader and chemist who was instrumental in the founding of the State of Israel. He was elected President by the Knesset in 1949 and served until his death in 1952.
