Chandrika Kumaratunga led the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) until the end of 2005. She was elected as the leader of the party in 1994 and served as the President of Sri Lanka from 1994 to 2005. During her tenure, she oversaw the end of the Sri Lankan Civil War and implemented a number of economic and social reforms.
