Who succeeded Charles Martel as the ruler of Franks?

  • Carloman

  • Charlemagne

  • Louis the Pious

  • Clovis II

Answer

Charles Martel died in 741. Carloman, his son, succeeded him as ruler of the Franks. However, Carloman did not have as much power as Charles Martel had. Carloman was a weak ruler and the Franks began to lose territory. In 747, Carloman abdicated and entered a monastery. His brother, Pepin the Short, became the ruler of the Franks.
