Campaigns were Chlothar I's primary means of territorial expansion. Through a series of military campaigns, he conquered and annexed neighboring kingdoms, including the Burgundian kingdom in 534 and the Visigothic kingdom in 542. These conquests significantly enlarged the Frankish realm and solidified Chlothar's position as one of the most powerful rulers in Western Europe.
