Chuck Yeager was credited with 11.5 aerial victories in World War II. He shot down five German aircraft over Europe while flying P-51 Mustangs with the 357th Fighter Squadron and the 363rd Fighter Squadron. He also shot down two German jets over Germany while flying a P-80 Shooting Star with the 52nd Fighter Group. Yeager was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions during World War II.
