Chulalongkorn, or Rama V, was born on 20 September 1853. He was the fifth king of the Chakri dynasty and reigned from 1868 to 1910. Chulalongkorn was known for his progressive reforms, including the abolition of slavery, the introduction of a modern legal system, and the establishment of a national education system.
