Bridges represented Tennessee in the US House of Representatives. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and served as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1929 to 1935. He was then elected to the US House of Representatives, where he served from 1935 to 1941. Bridges was a member of the Democratic Party. He was defeated for re-election in 1940.
