Irish. Daniel Wiffen was an Irish Quaker poet, translator, and author. He was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1774. He is best known for his translations of Spanish and Portuguese poetry, including the works of Luis de Camões and Garcilaso de la Vega. He also wrote original poetry, including the poem "The Quaker's Farewell," which became a popular Quaker hymn.
