Answer
The Senegambia Confederation was a union of the two West African countries of Senegal and Gambia. It was formed in 1982 and collapsed in 1989. The confederation was created in an effort to promote economic and political cooperation between the two countries. However, the confederation was plagued by economic problems and political instability. In 1989, the Gambian military overthrew the Senegalese-backed government of Gambia, and the confederation collapsed.
