Ion Negoiţescu was a Romanian literary historian, essayist, novelist and translator. He was a key figure in the development of Romanian literary criticism in the 20th century. He is best known for his work on the Romanian avant-garde and for his analysis of the work of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu. He was also a translator of European literature into Romanian.
