Ion Negoiţescu, a Romanian poet, essayist and critic, was known as "Nego" by his friends and colleagues. He was a member of the Generation of'48, a group of Romanian writers and intellectuals who were active during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Negoiţescu was also a professor of literature at the University of Bucharest. He died in 1993 at the age of 72.
