Yes, Mary Simon is the first Inuk governor general of Canada. She is an Inuk leader, diplomat, and former Canadian diplomat who served as Canada's ambassador to Denmark from 2004 to 2010. She is also the first Indigenous person to hold the position of governor general in Canada. Simon was appointed to the role on July 6, 2021, by Queen Elizabeth II, on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
