Kate Brown served three terms as state senator in the Oregon State Senate from 2001 to 2009. She was the first woman to serve as President pro tempore of the Senate, and she also served as co-chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and as a member of the Senate Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Labor and Business.
