Don Mattingly was an MLB player who graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville and was selected by the Yankees in the 1979 amateur draft. Mattingly played for the Yankees from 1982 to 1995 and was named an All-Star 10 times. He was also named the American League MVP in 1985 and 1986. Mattingly was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
