Edgar Douglas Adrian FRS (30 November 1889 – 4 August 1977) was an English physiologist and Nobel laureate who, along with Charles Scott Sherrington, won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1932 for their work on the functions of neurons. He provided the first clear demonstration that neurons are cells, rather than continuous fibers. He also identified the electrical signals that travel along axons.
