Edward Carson served in the War Cabinet of H. H. Asquith as Attorney General of Ireland. Asquith's coalition government was formed in May 1915 in response to the outbreak of World War I. The cabinet was composed of members of the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party, and the Labour Party. Carson was one of the few Unionists to join the government, and he served as Attorney General until 1916.
