Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset was the Lord Protector of England during the reign of Edward VI, and was the second son of John Seymour, 1st Baron Seymour of Sudeley, by his wife Margery Wentworth. Edward Seymour was created Viscount Beauchamp in 1541, Earl of Hertford in 1542, and Duke of Somerset in 1547.
