Æthelred (852–887) was the Lord of the Mercians in the early 880s. He was a son of King Ceolwulf II and was a member of the Mercian royal family. In 877, Æthelred succeeded his father as Lord of the Mercians. He was a strong ruler and fought against the Vikings, but was killed in battle in 887.
